OUR MISSION
Team ATTAC is committed to advancing research, improving treatments, and providing support for those affected by epilepsy. We strive to make a difference in the lives of individuals living with epilepsy and their families.
I AM NOT AN EPILECTIC
I am a cyclist who has epilepsy. That is an important distinction. I am not a victim of epilepsy, but it has enough of a negative impact on me that I want to do something about it. I am a husband and consultant and writer and pet dad. Epilepsy is part of me, but it does not define me.
I am also a problem-solver. As my disorder has gotten worse I have realized that I can bitch and moan about it all I want to, which may provide short-term relief but won't solve anything. Or I can do something about it. Team ATTAC is my attempt to do something about it.
I am the author of "bike.", a book about how cycling has helped me manage my disorder. Any cyclist or anyone with a chronic physical or mental issue will easily relate. Proceeds from book sales go directly to support epilepsy research.

You Matter.
Tough love from Team ATTAC
You have epilepsy. Do you know who cares? Almost nobody. Your personal support network and your doctor, if you are lucky enough to find a good one, are probably the only people who care that you have epilepsy. Sure, everyone will offer sympathy and their genuine - or disingenuous - "thoughts and prayers". But if thoughts and prayers actually worked, none of us would have epilepsy. It's a cop out. To make any change in our own lives and the lives of future sufferers of this affliction, we need funding. Not sympathy. Not thoughts and prayers.
So, we're on our own. Many nonprofits and foundations are working to raise money for mental health support generally, and epilepsy more specifically, but they are somewhat limited and are unfortunately fighting over the same private and federal grants and funds, which are only becoming more scarce. Team ATTAC can raise money and awareness in any way we can think of, and you can be part of the solution. Empower yourself. Find your path below or contact us directly at phil@teamattac.com to discuss your unique skills.
You have epilepsy. But what else do you have? Do you have content creation skills, social media skills, web design skills, or event management skills? Do you want to develop these types of skills and use our platform as the vehicle to do it? Do you have a social media presence you can leverage to spread the word about our work? Do you want to ride or race your bike to raise money to defeat epilepsy? Is there some other idea you have? Epilepsy is part of who you are, but don't let it define you and control you.
